Jake and I double-tapped a jacked up Bighead on KY Lake last night. The ugly sucker had half a face. I'm not sure if he was deformed or hit by a prop...either way, he was ugly. It was actually the first Bighead we've come across on the TN side of KY Lake.

We took off after church the other night to try to find some fish at KY Lake. So far things have been pretty slow on the lake. A few fish here and there, but we've yet to get into some hot action. That all changed the other night though. Sadly, about the time we got into the fish in a backwater flat, my buddy, Jerry, got sick as a dog in the back of the boat. I struggled to show compassion for Jerry as I flung arrows at gar cruising in and out of the flat. But knowing he was in pretty bad shape, we made plans to make a return trip and took off for the boat ramp. I just hope they are still there tonight!
We finally had a chance to get out on the new project boat the other night to break things in and give it a little trial run. Everything went well and we shot a few fish before the storms rolled in and shut us down. I did manage to finally shoot my first fish of the season, a dirty ol' drum, with a little assistance from my sidekick, Aidan.
It's fitting that the first fish from the new project boat goes to the guy that did all the dirty work on getting the rig ready for bowfishing. Jake stuck a good gar the other night to get things rolling. A big thanks to Jake for all his help with the boat.
